Lindsay Lohan made her post-rehab 'acting' debut in a skit during Jimmy Kimmel Live! after the Academy Awards show that followed the Oscar ceremony on ABC. The segment, 'Hottie Body Humpilates,' was a mock workout video infomercial that featuring a bevy of hot actresses, including Scarlett Johansson, Sofia Vergara, Minka Kelly, Jessica Biel, Emily Blunt, Jessica Alba and Eva Longoria, as well as Kelly Ripa.

DeKnight: ...Gannicus (Dustin Clare) is one of Spartacus’ generals in the actual war. Our original plan was always to introduce Gannicus unto(?) storyline....We will set him up to at some point to come back.

Q: ‘At some point’? So not ... at the start of season two?

DeKnight: We’re still working on it. We don’t know when or how... He won’t pop up immediately.

DeKnight: ...The two major things Lucretia (Lucy Lawless) does — poisoning Titus and maneuvering her husband (John Hannah) to kill Tullius — are all done for love. Love of her husband and her friend, Gaia...

 Ashur (Nick E. Tarabay) got so much development  in Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. Will he be serving Lucretia like he did Batiatus in season two?

Ashur serves himself.... Who he aligns himself to is an ever-shifting arena all its own. I love the character... when you realize the reason he’s bad is he just wants a hug — he wants love and respect, but he can’t get it.... He’s going to have some amazing stuff in season two.

 
Liam McIntyre...plays Spartacus in season 2: (Comment on casting him):

De Knight: We saw a thousand people. It came down to a handful of choices. Liam was the only one who resembled Andy (Whitfield--originated the role--now too ill to work). What we really loved about Liam is he had an honesty and intensity and compassion and sympathy in his performance — something that Andy really brought to the role.

Lucretia’s body slave, 'Naevia', played Lesley-Ann Brandt will not return for season 2:

DeKnight: That had to do with her contract and the lost period of time it’s taken to get back to season two. She moved to LA, is getting work and ... schedules couldn't be worked out... but in this show we weather characters dying and being recast.

 (Confirm) Season 2 Spartacus:Blood & Sand is not coming until next January?...

DeKnight: We cannot air it until the end of January 2011. Our post-production process takes so long....and Starz has Camelot in the spring and Torchwood in the summer.

Walking Dead: 'Memorable' Character to Return in Season 2? (SPOILER)

 

'You had a memorable cameo in AMC's The Walking Dead as the tough-on-the-outside, kind-on-the-inside Guillermo. I see you listed on IMDB as appearing in the season two premiere later this year. Can you confirm or debunk that you'll be returning to the popular zombie show?
I truly love playing Guillermo, leader of the Vatos. I have to thank AMC and Frank Darabont for giving me the opportunity. I can neither confirm nor deny anything about the show at this time though besides that the new season is shaping up to be AMAZING! From what I've heard, of course.

Were you a fan of The Walking Dead comic prior to joining the show and did you reference it after coming on board?
Didn't know about the series beforehand but became a big fan once I got the job. Love the comic. Robert Kirkman has a way with horror, doesn't he? '

I just finished Volume 6 of 'The Walking Dead' comic book series.  Thinking back, as written, this guy made no impression on me. However, we all know that the teevee version is not the comic book so perhaps 'Guillermo' will again show up in The Walking Dead  teevee show on AMC and do something memorable.

NOTE: 'SPOILER' refers to the little frame from the comic book that I scanned and put at the top of this post. It is a moment of revelation in The Walking Dead comics series that must be seen in context. I'm assuming it'll be in the teevee show.

Above: A very bittersweet scene between the Champion of Capua, Gannicus, and his Doctore, Oenomaus. Both loved the now-dead Melitta, Oenomaus as husband and Gannicus as lover. Says Gannius: 'There are many things I would die for... many things I deserve to die for yet the House no longer is among them."

Oenomaus, who must be unaware that Gannicus' love for his wife was as more than 'a friend' counsels  Gannicus that Melitta watches him from the afterlife, in effect cheering him on as he fights. Gannicus' demeanor shifts, and he replies, 'Then I will fill her eyes.'

Nicely played by both Dustin Clare as Gannicus and the great Peter Mensah as Doctore.

I love the score for this. It fits the video short story perfectly. Watch it. My first take is that it is about FAME...but how, why, what fame is as it affects the person in front of the camera. The protagonist says "I just want to feel again" when she gets in front of the camera. This is a sentiment that been echoed many times by a number of disaffected Hollywood beauties but for me--very much not of that group, it's a sentiment that I relate to completely. This world numbs you, whether you are famous of not. That's in part at least, why people skydive, take drugs, drive fast cars...they just want to be able to feel (again). Very cool video. It's very true about this actress, Paz de la Huerta, who you can see in HBO's Boardwalk Empire, that she seems to come alive in front of the camera.  I've seen photos of her at Hollywood functions and thought--she looks pretty ordinary ( except of course for the killer-hot bod). But onscreen or in posed photographs she's ethereal, nearly breathtaking...

This is one of the things that I love about screencaps. Little moments like this one above. I knew this was a tender scene (despite Lucretia having had sex with Crixus earlier and in the bath  most likely to remove any hint that she was before husband Batiatus came home from...attempting to kill his father...before losing confidence and failing to do so.)

Anyway. Click the  screencap and see that Lucretia is tearing up. Hard to know if she's amped it up a bit as she's, as she stated during the episode, 'at the edge of a cliff' not knowing at this point if her hubs is going to dissolve his marriage to her as his father demanded...Still, it's an additonal layer to consider.

What will they do with it when the show returns next year? Mensah wonders about that as well:

"With second season, I'm really looking forward to the idea of taking this character through the journey of being lost," Mensah said. "It's the first time he's really been out of that enclosed environment of the ludus. Now without the Batiatus house or family to look after, what's he going to do?"

When Peter Mensah (Doctore) first got the role in 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand,' "I kept trying to figure out, what are the tragedies that made him so foreboding? The journey is to get from the normal, married man to the person you meet at the start of ['Blood and Sand']. That's a great challenge," said Mensah, who was born in Ghana and grew up in England. In 'Gods of the Arena,' "there's more than enough ammunition to fuel the kind of man he becomes by the time we meet him" several years later.

One of the things that has made the character such a fan favorite is Doctore's sense of fairness and justice. As 'Gods of the Arena' has progressed through its six-episode season, Doctore has become a more commanding taskmaster. But whatever position he has held in the House of Batiatus ludus, he's always been perceived as a fair, ethical and intelligent man.

"He's an instructor -- he teaches people how to be brutal, and there is an undercurrent of death for most of the slaves," Mensah noted. "We understand at any times our lives could end. We all try to find meaning, and for him, it's a code of behavior, a code of ethics. That is what gives meaning to the process."

Part of that process involves a chance at freedom for him and his wife, Mensah said. I asked why slaves would risk their lives to bring honor to the houses of their owners, who could be capricious and cruel. Mensah said it was because gladiators could, if they were lucky enough to stay alive, eventually buy their way out of slave status.

"It was a way of earning money and a way of earning your freedom, quite possibly," Mensah said. "Glory in the arena could lead to a personal life."

But as those who've seen 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand' know (and this story assumes you've seen that season of the show), Spartacus and Doctore/Oenomaus eventually killed Batiatus and took their freedom by force.
