Spartacus: Gods of the Arena - A story of sex, violence and lust for power:

There is a huge blurring of the lines of sex, violence, and lust--for power in Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. And, there's something more than vaguely homoerotic about what the gladiators do--at least before they chop off the other guy's head. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

As hetero a female as I am, I find the women of Spartacus to be far nicer to gaze upon than the men. Perhaps because the women appear to bathe?

With his beautiful, scheming wife Lucretia at his side, he will stop at nothing to see his name forever carved into history. Batiatus stakes his fortunes on the roguish gladiator Gannicus, a man whose skill with a sword is surpassed only by his appetite to live every day as if it were his last. But there are those who would see Batiatus and his champion destroyed. Loyalties will be tested, lives shattered, and battles waged in this thrilling prequel to "Spartacus: Blood and Sand."

'Rosie the Riveter' Dies

Geraldine Doyle, the factory worker who inspired the famous Rosie the Riveter poster, died on Sunday at the age of 86. Doyle took a job at a metal factory at the age of 17 and was photographed there one day wearing a red and white polka-dot bandanna on her head. That photo ended up being the inspiration for the 1942 poster, in which a woman in a similar bandana makes a muscle beneath the caption “We Can Do It.” Rosie ended up making for a better inspiration than Doyle, who barely worked at the job for two weeks.

After spending 11 days re-watching all 11 Pixar feature films, Leandro Braga took 500 hand-selected scenes and made an amazing tribute to the best animation studio on the planet.

This mash-up is a trip in the films of Pixar Animation Studios. Were 11 days re-watching all feature films, selected more than 500 scenes, and a hard work editing.

Editor's note: Pixar's films have always been very important in my life. I was 6 years old when I watched Toy Story the first time, and his films made my childhood more happy. So this video is a personal tribute for, in my opinion, the best animation studio of all time.


This video was purely non-profit and not aimed at breaking copyright laws.

Made in 1898, G.A. Smith's 'Santa Claus' is a film of considerable technical ambition and accomplishment for its period. It uses pioneering visual effects in its depiction of a visit from St. Nicholas.

A former magic lanternist and hypnotist, Smith was one of the first British film-makers to make extensive use of special effects to create fantastical scenes. It comes as little surprise that Smith corresponded with the French pioneer Georges Méliès at about this time, as the two men shared a common goal in terms of creating an authentic cinema of illusion. I've searched for an official version of the Cookie Monster & Jeff Bridges singing 'Silver Bells' but so far all that is legit is via NBC (as usual) and NBC put that dumb 'Jeff'd' skit up instead of this little gem.

The cookie-obsessed, blue furry monster got the idea to petition to host Saturday Night Live from Betty White. 'Taking a cue from (White's) fans, Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster turned to Facebook last month to launch a campaign to host Saturday Night Live,' (as per the Hollywood Reporter).

Cookie Monster might not have realized his dream for a SNL hosting gig but everyone’s favorite blue furry guy has to be happy about his surprise guest gig and duet with Tron: Legacy star Jeff Bridges. Bridges is everywhere this weekend with Tron: Legacy just opening with good reviews and a great box office take... Also, Bridges also stars in a remake of True Grit, with Matt Damon and Josh Brolin, which opens December 22.
