"GO YOUR OWN WAY" Dexter - Episode 3.10
Dexter feels like he’s making a deal with the devil when he feigns civility around Miguel after his duplicitous ways. He finds himself in a series of chess-like moves against his former friend, all while hoping that Miguel doesn’t get the upper hand on him. Meanwhile, Dex watches helplessly as Miguel draws Rita closer through a wonderful wedding gift. Debra, now back with Anton after his close call with the Skinner, wonders if her relationship with him is worth putting her career in jeopardy. After all, is it smart for everyone to know that she is dating a former confidential informant?
Most of the episode, "Go Your Own Way" involved the stoking of the Dexter-Miguel fires which should be in full blaze come next week.
Dexter's bachelor party being planned by Masuka (who better?) was a (tiny) sub-plot as was one longer scene with La Guerda (Lauren Velez) and Miguel (Jimmy Smits) in an almost compromising position which Dexter interrupted. Later, Rita ratted out Miguel to his wife, "Syl" about the encounter while shopping for her wedding gown. Syl had confided to Rita, in what are some of the weaker scenes this season (What is this, Dexter's Desperate Housewives? Yikes.), that she's convinced Miguel is catting around.
Dexter's showing up at Maria Laguerta's door for a dumb reason caught them in mid-smooch and made Miguel a little pissy but he looked as if he'd like to literally murder Dex after he'd assumed that Dex sent his wife barging in on the heels of Dex. I'm sure though, she'd be much more upset if she knew the real reason Miguel has been keeping funny nighttime hours.
I liked this episode even though it appears like Anton and Debra broke up. There is a scene in one of the previews (below) when Deb's seeing Anton in an official capacity with him answering questions as the surviving victim of the Skinner. He literally reached out to her physically as well as emotionally and the scene was very nicely played by both Jennifer Carpenter (Debra) and David Ramsey (Anton). It is touching and powerful and it's just a snippet from next week! This week left off with Dex hogtied in the trunk of a Caddy, contemplating his own death (for a change)!
SPECULATION:
In the shot with Debra and Anton at the police station from the promo-preview clip she is quite shaken by something before she even begins the interview. News of Dexter's mishap? But how so when the preview has Dex "preparing for his big wedding day" as well as coping with the monstrous Miguel?
Is he SuperDexter now and we're just s'pose to assume he can overcome anyone or anything? Or maybe just clever, egomanical sociopaths like Miguel Prado and his buddy the Skinner?
